Edin Džeko has been linked with a few clubs this summer but the question is whether he will stay or go. Džeko has been a bit of an unsung hero since joining Manchester City in January 2011 from Wolfsburg. The 29 year old has scored 50 goals in 130 appearances for City and played a huge part in their league title win of 2013/2014 with scoring 16 goals. But injury problems and not having constant first team football has meant only scoring 4 league goals last season. With City signing Wilfried Bony has meant Džeko hasn’t been featuring in the first team towards the later part of the season. There has been many links of the Bosnian moving to Italy with the strongest link being a move to Roma.
Džeko moving to Roma has been heavily speculated due to Roma desperately needing a player who is a proven goalscorer with their latest purchase, Seydou Doumbia, not fulfilling expectations. This move is also a strong possibility down to Roma legend Francesco Totti dropping into a deeper role, this is mainly because of his increasing age. Totti will be turning 39 in September and due to this his mobility and physical presence has massively decreased.
Overall I think Džeko would be a very good influence to Roma’s team and would certainly bring goals. Also Džeko’s style of play fits in well with Roma’s style of play, his physical presence being a big part of it.
Overall I think Džeko will stay at Manchester City, this is due to his history with the club and he is a vital player in the squad and very much needed at Manchester City. There is the possibility he could move to Roma, but I don’t think that City will sell him on the cheap. I personally hope he doesn’t leave. I have been a fan of his since he joined the club and he would be a huge loss to the team.
